Work on the improvements to the A31 at Canford Bottom roundabout will start in September 2011 and continue until May 2012. This will lead to delays on roads in the area as it is aleady a bottleneck.
Hopefully the pre olympic imporvements will goe smoothly and be of benifit.

Well with most Olympic test events over – the sailing events in Weymouth & Portland were a great success – However now is the time for business owners and managers to take time to review their contingence plans for the main event in 2012.
Businesses close to or with customers close to an Olympic Venue should give very careful consideration as to how they will be affected – To quote an old military adage “Proper Planning and Preparation Prevents Pi** Poor Performance”.
How are you going to deliver to customers – will deliveries being late?
– Could late / early deliveries ease the situation?
Will staff be able to get to work?

A yacht skipper competing on Cowes Sailing Regatta failed to notice an Oil Products Vessel on its way to Fawley Terminal. Luckily no one is reported to have been injured – a video clip can be seen here
The Vessel ‘Hanne Knutsen’ is 263 mtr x 40 mtr and painted bright orange!
May be the yacht skipper should have his eyes tested!!
Coming to Weymouth for the Olympics?
Well we have had major improvements in the transport infrastructure – all working well thus far.
Mobile network coverage is patchy at best, if you are expecting superfast 3g coverage – forget it!! GSM is best – slow and patchy at time. All networks suffer – Orange, Vodafone, O2
May be they are working on it – but they have been saying that for years now!
Its been reported today that Weymouth and Portland councilors unanimously voted for fencing and other temporary structures to be allowed at Weymouth’s ticketed spectator site. (Porta Loos to me and you)
The decision by members of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council‘s planning and traffic committee means the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) will be able to accommodate 4,600 spectators a day during the Olympic period when sailing events are hosted in the borough.
A unanimous vote also granted LOCOG temporary use of the new Chesil Cove Federation Primary School and Zero C housing development at the former Officer’s Field site on Portland as an Olympic Village for athletes and officials
Call me syndical but one very important question springs to mind – tickets have been on sale for this venue since round one of the ballot – so was it not a forgone decision that LOCOG would do whatever they wanted? If permission was turned down would refunds of been issued??

They are now charging £1 to drop off passengers! Still its cheaper than Bouremouth currently £2.50!!!!!!!!!

There is great excitement as World class Olympic sailors are converging on Weymouth for an Olympic Test Event from 30th July to 14th August.
Athletes from all teams will get the chance to test the waters, and sample the local hospitality before next year’s main event!
With our roads now complete and the sun shining there is no better way to welcome the world
There are loud cheers and some confusion in Weymouth this evening as work on the Weymouth Transport Package draws to a close.
Cones are being cleared, and traffic lights switched on – one question will it all work – only time will tell.
