Condor Ferries moves sailings to Poole, as work begins at Weymouth Port

Condor Ferries have released the following
‘Condor Ferries has confirmed today that sailings will be relocated from Weymouth to Poole, until 28 March while remedial work is carried out by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council on the berth at Weymouth Port.

Last week mutual concerns were raised by Condor Ferries and the Council regarding the structural integrity of part of the ferry berth in Weymouth Port.

Following an investigation by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s engineering team, plans are now in place for repair works to be carried out to the berth over the next four weeks. The engineers anticipate that these works will allow Condor Ferries to resume its services from Weymouth for the duration of the summer period.

Condor Ferries is continuing to contact passengers affected by the change of port and is ensuring that up-to-date information is available on its website www.condorferries.com.
Capt Fran Collins, Operations Director Condor Ferries, said:
“Condor Ferries is relocating sailings until 28 March to Poole, to minimise disruption to passengers and to offer as much advance notice as possible. Our customer services team are contacting all passengers to advise them of the change of port.

“The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority, and we will be working closely with Weymouth & Portland Borough Council to monitor the repairs over the coming weeks.
“By continuing to operate regular services from Poole, while the work is carried out in Weymouth, we can continue to sustain our lifeline ferry services between the Channel Islands and the UK.”
Condor Ferries expects to resume operations from Weymouth for summer 2012, after this period assuming all safety concerns have been resolved satisfactorily.’
