UKBA Strike – 10th May 2012
Immigration staff are to stage a one-day strike on 10th May 2012 threatening huge disruption at port & airports across the UK including Heathrow. In our recent experience - passengers are having to wait at immigration - non EU nationals for up to 3 hours from the time their plane lands! It will be interesting to see if the managers and staff drafted in to provide cover can reduce the waiting – surely it cannot get much worse. On the bright side – because cars are in the car parks for longer Apcoa parking should be making increased profits!!!!

Travelling to Weymouth for the Olympic sailing? Better not use the train!
South West trains have published the following statement ‘trains to and from Weymouth are expected to be extremely busy. Spectators for the sailing events are recommended to drive to one of the Olympic park and ride sites for buses to the spectator areas’ What happened to the ‘green and sustainable’ travel ethos of the games? Surely the train operators have had enough notice – seven years since our bid was accepted – to arrange extra trains and rolling stock!!
